The Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Analyst is responsible for conducting due diligence on new and existing customers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role involves verifying customer information, assessing risk levels, and monitoring ongoing customer activity to detect and report suspicious activities. The CDD Analyst will work closely with various departments to support the company’s anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) efforts.
- Conduct thorough due diligence on new and existing customers, including identity verification and risk assessment.
- Collect and verify customer documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Analyse customer information and transaction patterns to identify potential risks.
- Assess the risk level of customers based on various factors such as geographical location, industry, and transaction behaviour.
- Classify customers into appropriate risk categories and apply enhanced due diligence (EDD) measures for high-risk customers.
- Review and update customer risk profiles regularly.
- Monitor customer transactions and activities on an ongoing basis to detect suspicious behaviour.
- Use automated tools and systems to flag unusual transactions and patterns. Conduct periodic reviews of high-risk customers and update their profiles as necessary.
- Prepare and submit suspicious activity reports (SARs) to regulatory authorities as required.
- Maintain accurate records of all due diligence activities, findings, and actions taken.
- Provide regular reports on CDD activities and findings to management.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant AML/CTF regulations and industry best practices.
- Ensure that all CDD activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of AML/CTF policies and procedures.
- Work closely with the AML, Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to ensure a coordinated approach to customer due diligence.
- Communicate effectively with customers to obtain required documentation and information.
- Provide guidance and support to other departments on CDD-related matters.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve CDD processes and systems.
- Lead initiatives to implement best practices in customer due diligence and risk management.
- Develop and deliver training programs on CDD and AML/CTF topics to employees.
- Promote a culture of compliance and awareness of due diligence requirements throughout the organization.
- Essential language proficiency in Italian and English. Native/full proficiency (spoken and written) for both languages.
- Strong knowledge of AML/CTF regulations and customer due diligence requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using compliance and risk management software.
